Transitions Diversity Advisory Board

Link copied to clipboard

The Transitions Diversity Advisory Board was originally formed in 2010 to help guide the company’s multicultural initiatives and further strengthen its ability to help eyecare professionals provide culturally and linguistically appropriate vision care to a diverse patient base. Cultural and language barriers can make it hard to communicate with patients – and can stand in the way of the patient receiving the best possible vision care. Even patients who speak fluent English may feel more comfortable communicating in another language. Now, the Diversity Advisory Board is focused on making an impact on the multicultural representation of eyecare professionals. The Board, now welcoming volunteers, helps identify new programs and tools to support eyecare professionals in their efforts to provide the best possible experience for all patients.

What Can You Expect as a Diversity Advisory Board Volunteer?

  • Connect with fellow Transitions Diversity Advisory Board members.
  • Contribute to development of multicultural resources and educational presentations.
  • Participate in community events that provide eye exams and dispensing services to under resourced communities.
  • Encourage diverse students to join the optical industry.
  • Inclusion in multicultural panels.
  • Network and attend exclusive events with industry leaders.
